FAQ and Terms and Conditions
Terms and Conditions
Booking & Payments
-
Once you book a bridal trial, you will receive an invoice outlining all costs for your wedding day services and trial (if required).
-
A booking fee/deposit is required to secure your wedding date. This deposit covers the cost of your trial and is non-refundable should you cancel your booking for any reason.
If a trial is required:
-
After your trial, if you wish to proceed with the booking, 50% of the remaining balance must be paid within 3 days of the trial date to secure your wedding date.
-
The final balance must be paid no later than 3 weeks (21 days) before your wedding date.
If no trial is required:
-
50% of the total booking cost is required as a booking fee to secure your wedding date.
-
The remaining balance must be paid no later than 3 weeks (21 days) before your wedding date.
-
Reference images of the desired hair and makeup looks are appreciated in place of a trial.
Travel & Parking
-
Travel fees apply for locations more than 10 miles from EH1 (Edinburgh).
-
Any parking charges incurred where free parking is not available at the venue or address must be covered by the client.
Cancellation Policy
-
Any cancellations or reductions to the number of people within 3 weeks (21 days) of the wedding date will require full payment, and no refunds will be given, as it is unlikely the date or time can be re-filled.
-
If the booking is cancelled after the booking fee has been paid and more than 3 weeks before the wedding, the booking fee and any payments already made are non-refundable, but no further payments will be required.
-
If you decide not to proceed with the booking after your trial, no further payments will be taken. However, if the trial takes place within 3 weeks of the wedding date, a £50 holding fee will be charged to cover time reserved that is unlikely to be re-filled.
Please notify me as soon as possible of any cancellations or changes to your bridal party.
Additional bridal party members may be added subject to availability. This may require an earlier start time to accommodate everyone.
Trial Terms, Health & Safety
-
Bridal trials take place at my home studio in Granton, Edinburgh (EH5).
-
If this location is unsuitable, alternative arrangements can be made with prior agreement. Travel and parking costs may apply depending on location.
-
Please inform me of any known skin allergies or sensitivities prior to your appointment.
-
I reserve the right to refuse or reschedule a trial if you have a condition that may compromise the hygiene of my professional kit (for example, cold sores or conjunctivitis). Please seek medical advice before attending if you are unsure.
-
Please attend your trial with inspiration images for both hair and makeup.
-
In the unlikely event that I am unable to attend your booking, I work alongside a trusted group of professional hair and makeup artists and will always ensure your booking is covered. This has never occurred in my 16 years of experience.
Hair Preparation
-
Hair should be washed the night before your trial and wedding day unless advised otherwise.
-
Please bring any hair accessories you plan to wear, as this helps give a realistic preview of the final look.
Makeup Preparation
-
Skin will be fully cleansed, toned, and moisturised prior to makeup application. A good exfoliation and working on the hydration of your skin will make the makeup look better and last longer.
-
Please bring images of your dress, colour scheme, flowers, bridesmaid dresses, and any other details that will help create a cohesive look for your wedding day.
Photography & Portfolio Use
-
The client agrees to the use of photographs taken during and/or after appointments carried out by Caroline Stewart Makeup Artistry and Hair Styling for website, portfolio, and social media use.
-
If any member of the bridal party does not wish to be photographed, this will be fully respected—please advise me in advance.
-
If you are happy for me to contact your photographer after the wedding for professional images, please provide their details below.

FAQ
Trials
-
Others are welcome to attend your trial; please let me know in advance how many will be attending.
-
Bridal trials are recommended so you feel confident and relaxed on your wedding day.
-
Additional bridal party trials can be booked but are not essential.
-
Trials can be booked at a time that suits you. Some clients book up to a year in advance, others closer to the wedding date. I recommend around 8 to 10 weeks before the wedding, unless you are choosing between artists or would like the trial much earlier which i have no problem with.
-
Trials are not available on Saturdays due to high demand for weddings. Morning, daytime, and evening appointments are available on other days.
Lashes
-
False lashes are included in the price and are optional.
-
A range of individual and strip lashes is available.
-
I am happy to work with eyelash extensions.
Your Satisfaction
-
Please let me know during your trial if there is anything you would like adjusted or are unsure about.
-
My priority is that you feel happy, confident, and comfortable when you leave your appointment.
By proceeding with your booking, both the client and Caroline Stewart Makeup Artistry and Hair Styling agree to the terms and conditions outlined above.
